Last day to register for CM Punjab’s solar panel scheme
Today is the last day to register for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s free solar panel scheme. This Rs10 billion initiative aims to provide free solar panels to 100,000 households in Punjab.
The scheme targets households consuming an average of up to 200 units of electricity per month per meter. One hundred thousand solar panel systems, ranging from 550 to 1100 watts, will be distributed. The selection process will be through a lottery system in June 2024. Successful applicants will have the solar panel systems installed in their homes.
Registration can be completed online through a dedicated portal. Alternatively, applicants can send their electricity bill reference number and CNIC to 8800 via SMS, or contact 990302024 for assistance.
Chief Minister Nawaz stated that the free solar panels will provide significant relief to citizens facing high electricity bills. She further emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Punjab into a renewable energy hub, with plans to gradually shift agricultural tube wells to solar energy.
She also highlighted the impact of providing 100,000 e-bikes and introducing electric buses on transforming the transportation sector.
