Temperatures drop across Pakistan after snowfall across Northern Areas

Light rain is possible in northwestern Balochistan overnight

A significant cold wave has swept across Pakistan following heavy snowfall in the country’s northern regions, drawing large numbers of tourists to the snow-covered landscapes.

Popular tourist destinations like Shogran have seen a surge in visitors since the snowfall. Similarly, the scenic areas of Malam Jabba, Kalam, and Mahodand in Swat Valley have become even more captivating with the fresh blanket of snow.

In the higher altitudes of Gilgit-Baltistan, freezing temperatures have caused lakes and waterfalls to freeze over. The hill stations of Murree and Azad Kashmir have also experienced a significant drop in temperature, with residents reporting bitterly cold conditions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts cold and dry weather across most of the country for today, with partly cloudy skies expected in mountainous areas.

Light rain is possible in northwestern Balochistan overnight, along with snowfall in the higher elevations. Light fog is anticipated in southern Punjab during the morning and evening hours.
