Agreement between Ittehad-e-Tanzeemat-Madaris and PTI govt comes to light

It requires all religious institutions to register with the Ministry of Education

An agreement from August 2019 between the Federation of Religious Schools and the government has come to light, mandating all religious schools to register with the Ministry of Education.

The agreement also stipulates that schools failing to register will face closure.

According to details, the agreement was signed between the Federation of Religious Schools and the government, during the tenure of former Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

It requires all religious institutions to register with the Ministry of Education.

The agreement designates the Ministry of Education as the sole authority responsible for collecting data on religious schools. It includes a joint decision to close schools that do not register, as well as provisions for canceling registrations in case of regulatory violations.

Additionally, the agreement mandates that religious schools open bank accounts, allows foreign students to enroll, and establishes uniform curriculum objectives.

This agreement was aimed at educational reform, with the government assuring financial support and resource provision. It has been deemed a significant milestone in the education sector.
