A recent study by AirHelp has disclosed the top and bottom-performing airlines of the year, highlighting those with the most delays, complaints, and overall customer satisfaction.

The report analyzed the performance of 109 airlines from January to October 2024, focusing on claims processed, flight punctuality, and customer feedback from 54 countries regarding in-flight services, including food quality and cabin crew performance.

Brussels Airlines topped the list, rising from 12th place last year with a score of 8.12 out of 10. Qatar Airways followed closely in second place with a score of 8.11.

The top five also featured United Airlines and American Airlines, both scoring 8.04, and Icelandic low-cost carrier Play, which received a score of 7.89.

The complete list of the top 10 best-performing airlines includes:

  2. Qatar Airways

  3. United Airlines

  4. American Airlines

  5. Play

  6. Austrian Airlines

  7. LOT Polish Airlines

  8. Air Arabia

  9. Widerøe

  10. Air Serbia

Conversely, Tunisair was identified as the worst airline, earning a score of 3.63, placing it last at 109th.

Polish airline Buzz followed with a score of 4.45, and Nouvelair ranked third lowest at 4.48.

Other U.S. airlines performed reasonably well, with Delta Airlines ranking 17th at 7.31, while Alaska Airlines fell to the lower half at 88th with a score of 5.18.

Notably, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was not included in this ranking.

The study also examined how airlines managed claims and compensation, which significantly contributed to their overall scores.

Additionally, the report highlighted the best airports for travelers, with Doha Hamad Airport in Qatar taking the top spot, followed by Cape Town Airport in South Africa and Nagoya Chubu Airport in Japan. The highest-ranking U.S. airport was Salt Lake City Airport, scoring 8.28, while Washington Dulles Airport placed 11th with a score of 8.22.
