Public weary of PTI protests, Asif says
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that the public is growing weary of the ongoing protests and that protesters are now clashing amongst themselves. He commented on the recent events, characterizing them as a failed attempt to seize Islamabad.
In an exclusive talk with Aaj News, Asif asserted that the recent demonstrations marked the first and last such show of force since the current leadership assumed power. He expressed confidence that there would be no further attempts of this nature.
The Minister strongly condemned the attacks on military installations on May 9 and the subsequent events of November 24, labeling them acts of rebellion. He emphasized that those responsible for these attacks and for the broader transgressions against the nation must be held accountable and face justice according to the law.
Asif further criticized PTI, the political party behind the protests, highlighting their internal divisions and indecisiveness regarding the use of violence. He pointed out their failure to effectively coordinate their actions, culminating in their inability to even reach Islamabad.
He stated that the perpetrators of these actions should be punished according to the same standards they applied when in power. He indicated that if these individuals are not held accountable, the government will ensure justice is served.
