At least five bodies were found in a house in Bahawalpur on Tuesday, rescue officials said. They were killed by gunfire.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Kashif, 40, Urooj, 36, Jahanzeb, 15, Abdullah, 13, and a minor. A young girl was found unconscious at the scene.

A recent police report highlighted a remarkable 46% decrease in heinous crimes in Lahore, Punjab, during October 2024 compared to the same month in the previous year.

The report, based on data from the emergency helpline 15, noted a substantial decline in criminal activities. Law enforcement officials attributed this success to various strategies, including stringent criteria for the posting of station house officers and a focus on high-crime periods, particularly between 4pm and midnight.

In October 2023, there were 5,814 reported incidents of heinous crimes, which fell to 2,663 in October 2024. Among the most significant reductions was in robbery cases, which plummeted by an impressive 77%. The number of reported robberies dropped from 1,577 in October 2023 to just 441 in the past month.
