PTI protest: Omar Ayub reveals list of demands
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan has demanded the restoration of the rule of law in Pakistan. Speaking to a private television channel, he called for the release of all PTI members, including Imran Khan, who he claims are unjustly imprisoned. He also reiterated the party’s demand for fresh elections.
Ayub stated that the PTI does not seek concessions or relief, asserting that such relief will automatically follow once conditions are met. He described all cases against Imran Khan as fabricated, expressing concern over his lack of access to the former Prime Minister for two months. He mentioned learning about a “final call” from Khan through the media and indicated that the party will consult on the matter and act accordingly.
Ayub revealed that he spends 95% of his time attending court hearings for over 100 cases, facing arrest warrants if he fails to appear. He accused intelligence agencies of attempting to create a faction within the PTI by pressuring party members.
Regarding the 26th Constitutional Amendment, Ayub stated that show-cause notices have been issued to PTI members who lost contact during that period, assuring that those who are innocent will be cleared. He criticized a parliamentary committee for deviating from its mandate.
Ayub confirmed that Mahmoud Achakzai has been authorized to hold negotiations with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other political parties.
He alleged that the events of May 9th were a setup, citing the non-release of CCTV footage as evidence. He also announced the filing of a petition against the alleged illegal detention of PTI members in Adiala Jail.
