Govt moves forward with PIA privatization, targeting sale to Qatar or Abu Dhabi
The government has begun work on a new plan for the privatization of PIA (Pakistan International Airlines). PIA is set to be sold to either Qatar or Abu Dhabi under a government-to-government agreement. Applications for expressions of interest are being accepted until November 30.
The government is considering proposals to sell PIA to a foreign government.
Reports indicated that there is a plan to sell PIA under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement.
In the wake of the cancellation of the Blue World Consortium’s bid, the government has developed a revised plan for the airline’s future.
Proposals are underway to include several pre-agreed conditions in the potential sale to either Qatar or Abu Dhabi.
The Blue World Consortium had previously submitted a bid of 10 billion rupees to acquire shares in PIA, but this bid has since been annulled.
