Vikrant Massey faces backlash over controversial comments on Muslims while promoting his film
Indian actor Vikrant Massey has fallen under the limelight due to his statements regarding Muslims while promoting his upcoming film The Sabarmati Report.
In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra regarding The Sabarmati Report, Massey, recognized for his secular viewpoints and previous criticisms of the BJP, expressed a shift in his political stance.
Jo chiz mujhe buri lagti thi, wo actually buri hain nahi. Log kehte hain musalman khatre mein hai, koi khatare mein nahi hai, sab sahi chalra hai. Toh isliye aaj main keh rahan hoon ki, I have changed over the last time (What I once thought was bad isn’t necessarily so. People claim that Muslims are in danger, but that’s not true; everything is going fine. Therefore, I’m saying today that I have changed over time.),“ he said.
Massey’s comments were met with backlash from netizens, who suggested that his change in perspective was merely a strategy to promote his upcoming film.
One user on X remarked, “Don’t give too much credit to Bollywood people. They adapt to the current environment. He’s just smart enough to realize that the current government is likely to stay!”
Another user commented, “It’s all about money, my friend… It’s all about money.” A third added, “Either he’s acting because of his movie release, or he’s just had an awakening.”
One comment read, “Now that a movie is coming out, he’s pretending to change his views.”
