Vikrant Massey reveals wife couldn’t recognize him in his new film Poster
Indian actor Vikrant Massey has revealed that his wife, Sheetal Thakur, was unable to recognize him in his upcoming Netflix film Sector 36 recently released poster.
“I know people will think I am exaggerating, but she was honestly shocked. For 10 minutes, she was zooming in on the photo to see if it was actually me. I think many people had the same reaction, and I am happy we achieved it,” he said.
During a media interaction, Vikrant humorously shared his wife’s reaction, stating she asked, “Kaun hai?” (Who is it?), after seeing the poster on social media.
“As for the character, we are poles apart, but I have seen the world, travelled a bit, and am not unfamiliar with such people. There are many like him, with that mentality, around us. But yes, there were days when I struggled to play the part. There were nights when I couldn’t sleep. However, over the years, I have learnt how to leave my characters on set. It does shake you, but you manage to switch off,” he added.
Expressing gratitude to his director for bringing the character to life, he shared that, in addition to the moustache, he wore lenses for the role. The director aimed to create a look that would help him blend in with the crowd.
He expressed satisfaction with his look, noting it achieved the desired effect of blending in with ordinary men, particularly those from Tier-II cities.
The poster featured Vikrant with a striking transformation, complete with a mustache and lenses, aimed at portraying his character as a serial killer in a narrative inspired by the infamous Nithari killings.
Sector 36, directed by Aditya Nimbalkar, is set to stream on Netflix starting September 13, 2024. The film also features Deepak Dobriyal in a pivotal role.
