Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment are set to adapt their hit crime-thriller series Mirzapur into a feature film, making it one of the first Indian streaming successes to transition from a digital platform to theatres, as reported by Variety.

The film, scheduled for release in 2026, will be directed by Puneet Krishna, the original creator of the series, with Gurmmeet Singh co-directing. Singh, who directed 17 episodes of the show, brings a wealth of experience and familiarity with the series’ universe to the project.

After an eight-week theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video in 240 countries, meaning viewers in Pakistan will have to wait longer to watch it.

Excel Movies and the cast of Mirzapur recently shared a promo for the upcoming film on Instagram. In the clip, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu discuss the theme of taking greater risks. Fazal, portraying Guddu Bhaiya, emphasises that risk-taking is his unique selling point while Divyenndu, who plays Munna—characterised by his dramatic fate at the end of season 2—reminds viewers, Hum kehte thay na, hum amar hain [we told you, we are immortal].

This film follows the record-breaking success of the series season 3 on Prime Video, with plans for a fourth season to be developed after the film’s release. Fans will be thrilled to see the return of the original ensemble cast, including Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee as the Compounder.
