Naureen Niazi, former prime minister Imran Khan’s sister, has stated that her brother inquired whether any deal had been made following the bail granted to two of his sisters.

“Imran Khan, as a former prime minister, is not receiving the facilities he deserves while in jail,” she told reporters outside the Islamabad High Court on Monday.

Khan’s sisters, Aleema and Uzma, were released from the Jhelum Jail on October 25 after their release orders were issued following bail in a case on the PTI’s protest in Islamabad.

They were arrested for participating in the PTI protest when there was a ban public gatherings in Islamabad.

Naureen alleged that Khan had been deprived of various amenities, including newspapers, television, and even a shaving kit. Instead, Naureen added that Khan “is being provided with food from a communal kitchen and is confined to his room” with no permission to leave.

She added that when her sisters, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, were granted bail, Khan was perplexed and questioned if there had been any kind of deal, as no one had been released from custody until now.

When asked, Naureen expressed her hope that her brother would publicly state that he can no longer endure the situation and is willing to negotiate a deal.

“From the very beginning, I have wished for him [Khan] to consider making a deal to ease his circumstances,” she said.

Many people had expressed concerns over the recent developments following the 26th Constitutional Amendment and the release of Khan’s wife and his sisters.

Bushra Bibi was released from Adiala Jail on October 24, nine months after she was imprisoned alongside him in the runup to the elections.

A faith healer who has rarely been seen in public, Bibi wedded Khan shortly before he was elected in 2018 after becoming his spiritual guide.

She was arrested on January 31 – one week before Pakistan went to the polls. The charges against her in the illegal marriage case sparked uproar both among PTI supporters and wider society.

In the recent past, many PTI leaders, including Raoof Hassan, have claimed that the former prime minister has been offered deals to avoid the anti-government stance and leave the country. But they have never mentioned who offered the deal.
