IHC orders de-sealing of KP House

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC heard the petition

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the unsealing of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad.

The order follows a petition filed yesterday by the KP government, through its Secretary Administration, challenging the sealing of the KP House.

The petition named the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Interior, the DG Rangers, the FIA, the CDA (Capital Development Authority), and the Islamabad police as respondents. The petition argued that the provincial government’s property had been illegally sealed.

The petition requested the court to declare the sealing of the KP House and the impoundment of its official vehicles as unlawful and to order the immediate unsealing of the property.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC heard the petition. The CDA argued that illegal construction had taken place and certain dues remained outstanding, citing a notice issued in 2014.

The court, in response to the CDA’s counsel, stated that action could be taken according to law and that if any issues remained, notices should be issued, and the court would review them.

Chief Justice Farooq remarked that the actions should not appear targeted and subsequently ordered the unsealing of the KP House.
