Govt to table constitutional amendment next week, sources say
Despite a request from Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman to postpone proposed constitutional amendments, the government appears determined to proceed.
Sources indicate that the government plans to convene separate sessions of the Senate and National Assembly next week to consider the proposed 26th Amendment to the Constitution.
According to sources, the government intends to introduce the constitutional amendment during these sessions, alongside other significant legislation.
The current national security situation is also expected to be discussed.

It is noteworthy that Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has urged the government to delay the amendments until after the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
