Kamala Harris’s campaign reported expenditures of approximately $174 million in August, nearly three times that of her rival Donald Trump, who spent $61 million.

This financial disclosure, filed with the Federal Election Commission, highlights Harris’s significant financial advantage as both candidates gear up for the closely contested November 5 presidential election.

Harris, the U.S. Vice President who officially began her campaign in July after President Joe Biden stepped down, has utilized her funding to heavily invest in television advertisements. Despite this financial edge, polls indicate a tight race, particularly in crucial battleground states.

In addition to campaign spending, Harris’s campaign donated $75,000 to the Detroit Unity Fund, which aims to boost Black voter turnout in Michigan.

While both candidates reported similar spending patterns focused on advertisements, Harris concluded August with a campaign balance of $235 million, contrasted with Trump’s $135 million, reflecting a decrease of about $17 million.
