SCBA to issue report on constitutional amendment in 7 days

SCBA unanimously issues statement after meeting

The Supreme Court Bar Association has unanimously approved a statement regarding the proposed constitutional amendment package and has formed a committee to review it.

The statement was released following a meeting of the SCBA.

The committee, composed of representatives from provincial bar councils and associations, will have seven days to submit its report.

The statement emphasizes that the final draft of the amendment package will be presented to the committee before being submitted to Parliament. The committee’s recommendations will be incorporated into the final draft.

The statement also prohibits any strikes or protests by any other groups besides the representative organizations of lawyers.

The committee will be comprised of vice-chairmen and executive committee chairmen from provincial bar councils, as well as the president and general secretary of the SCBA, and the vice-chairman and executive committee chairman of the Bar Council.
