The government’s plans to introduce the 26th amendment to the constitution of Pakistan have drawn it closer to the opposition, especially the PTI, and lawyers bodies. PTI and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s JUIF are also experiencing unprecedented bonhomie among themselves.

Ruling PMLN’s leader Rana Sanaullah approached PTI leaders on Wednesday after first contact was made two days ago at a dinner hosted by NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq for PTI MNAs who were arrested from the parliament.

Sources in the party revealed that Sanaullah has told Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar to share the draft of the proposed amendment with the PTI leaders.

Meanwhile, Ali Mohammad Khan of the PTI in a press talk on Wednesday said that they first want Imran Khan to be released from jail before any amendment could be passed.

The government has also decided to hold talks with lawyer bodies and the law minister will be meeting representatives of bar association on Thursday.

Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday attended a luncheon at the residence of PTI’s Asad Qaiser in Islamabad in what could be seen a reciprocatory move.

However, Imran Khan is not ready to blindly trust the maulana. During a court hearing inside Adiala Jail on Wednesday, when journalists asked how he views the role played by Maualana Fazlur Rehman, Khan said “I cannot say anything.”
