Khawaja Asif accuses Gandapur of playing ‘double game’

Says there is no evidence for Gandapur's abduction claim

Defense Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif has accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Amin Gandapur of playing a “double game” and “playing with fire” in relation to recent political events.

Asif’s remarks came in response to Gandapur’s alleged statement that he had spent 7-8 hours with the “establishment” (a term often used to refer to the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies). Asif questioned the validity of this claim, stating that there was no evidence to support it.

He further accused Gandapur of using different language within the “four walls” (referring to closed-door meetings) and adopting a different persona when interacting with the public.

Asif also criticized the recent arrest of PTI members within the Parliament building, arguing that they could have been apprehended outside the chamber. He suggested that the PTI members were trying to protect their own interests and were engaging in “double dealing.”

“Imran Khan believes that those with secret connections are the only ones who can save him,” Asif added, referring to PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s alleged attempts to seek support from the establishment.

A day after PTI’s rally in Islamabad, contact with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was lost, and it was restored after approximately eight hours. Subsequently, the Chief Minister departed from Islamabad for Peshawar late at night.

In an informal conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan made a significant revelation regarding Gandapur’s disappearance, stating that he had been taken away by the “establishment,” which led to his absence. Following this incident, the PTI founder adopted a definitive stance, declaring an end to “negotiations with the establishment.”
