Gandapur trying to incite another May 9, Kundi says
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has strongly condemned the recent inflammatory rhetoric of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, accusing him of attempting to incite another “May 9” situation.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Kundi criticized Gandapur’s recent public address, stating that his words were “disgraceful” and had caused widespread concern. He called upon the federal government to take swift action against those who violated the law during the recent protests.
He also expressed deep disappointment at Gandapur’s call to personally release Imran Khan from jail, deeming it an anti-democratic act.
Kundi further asserted that Gandapur’s actions were a clear attempt to undermine the rule of law and create chaos. He pointed out that Gandapur had sought permission to appoint advisors, which he had rejected, emphasizing his commitment to upholding the constitution.
He also raised concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the southern districts where, according to him, the government’s authority is weak. He alleged that the majority of terrorist incidents occur in Gandapur’s district, suggesting either a lack of control or complicity with extremist elements.

Kundi demanded that Gandapur seek a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly, arguing that he has lost the trust of the people and is incapable of maintaining peace and order. He also urged the Prime Minister and the Federal Interior Minister to convene an emergency session to address the crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Governor reiterated the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to democracy and condemned violence, emphasizing that accountability should apply to all, including judges and generals. He also criticized the federal government’s handling of the situation, stating that they should have acted more decisively against those who threatened state institutions.
Kundi concluded by warning Gandapur against his “ultimatum,” stating that he should not expect to escape accountability for his actions. He urged the federal government to take immediate action against those who broke the law and ensure that justice prevails.
