Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez emphasized the importance of avoiding a trade war between the European Union and China, advocating for dialogue and compromise regarding proposed tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).

Speaking at an event in Kunshan, near Shanghai, Sanchez addressed the European Commission’s ongoing anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese-made EVs and the potential for significant tariffs.

He stated that all parties, including EU member states and the commission, should reconsider their positions to prevent escalating tensions.

Sanchez noted that Spain aims to strengthen trade and investment relations with China, particularly in green and innovative industries, while ensuring that geopolitical tensions do not hinder these connections.
