A tumultuous scene unfolded in the Senate on Tuesday as PTI female Senator Falak Naz was suspended for two days for using offensive language against independent Senator Faisal Vawda.

Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani suspended Senator Naz during independent Senator Vawda’s speech.

Vawda addressed the Senate, expressing his frustration over the use of public insults, stating: “We cannot remain silent while such language is being used.”

He called for the Sergeant-at-Arms to remove Falak Naz from the chamber, saying that no one has the right to use abusive language in the House.

The independent senator demanded the suspension of Naz’s membership and highlighted that simply deleting her words was “insufficient.” He said: “If Falak Naz is not suspended, I will retaliate with even harsher language.”

The Senate chairman stated that if Naz did not apologize, she would be suspended. Senator Vawda reacted strongly, declaring, “This is a challenge to the state of Pakistan. Are we expected to remain silent while insults are hurled at us? Will we tolerate abuse directed at our mothers and sisters?”

He criticised the situation, claiming, “You come here sitting in the lap of Faiz Hameed and tell us to respect you? We have funded this party.”
