Outrage and frustration gripped Israel as thousands took to the streets following the discovery of six slain hostages in Gaza. Protesters blamed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the deaths and demanded action to secure the release of the remaining captives.

Massive demonstrations erupted in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and other cities, with an estimated 500,000 people participating. Protesters blocked streets, rallied outside the Prime Minister’s residence, and filled Tel Aviv’s main highway with flags bearing the images of the deceased hostages.

The Israeli military confirmed the deaths of Carmel Gat, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, and Ori Danino. Forensic examination revealed they were “murdered by Hamas terrorists” within the past few days.

Netanyahu vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, while Hamas accused Israel of refusing to sign a ceasefire agreement, leading to the deaths. The Israeli offensive on Gaza was launched in response to attacks by Hamas and other militants that killed approximately 1,200 people and took 250 hostages in October.

The conflict has devastated Gaza, killing over 40,000 Palestinians and displacing countless others. A general strike has been called for Monday, with Ben Gurion airport set to close, as anger and calls for an end to the war intensify.

International leaders, including US President Joe Biden, condemned the killings and called for accountability. Biden expressed “devastation and outrage” over the death of American-Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin and pledged to work for the release of the remaining hostages.

Negotiations for a ceasefire remain stalled, with Hamas demanding a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and Israel demanding the release of all hostages and the disarmament of Hamas.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, with children facing the threat of polio and thousands living in dire conditions. The international community urges both sides to reach a ceasefire and prioritize the safety and well-being of civilians.
