PTI leader Razzaq Khanzada has alleged that the Karachi Karsaz road accident victim, Abdul Salam, was forcibly removed from the Jinnah hospital against medical advice.

“Abdul Salam’s life is hanging by a thread,” Khanzada told reporters after visiting a private hospital where the victim is under treatment.

At least two people, including a woman, were killed and seven injured when the woman driver of a car lost control and struck several vehicles at Karachi’s Karsaz Road on August 19.

The suspect was identified as Natasha Iqbal. Earlier this week, a city court sent her to jail on a 14-day judicial remand over allegedly killing two people in the accident.

Salam is one of the injured persons and reports say he is currently fighting for his life at the hospital. The PTI leader expressed grave concerns over the victim’s deteriorating condition.

Khanzada offered his condolences to the families of the deceased and conveyed the PTI’s “commitment to not leaving the victims and their families alone” in this difficult time.

He added that the doctors have informed the relatives of Salam that “there is no hope for his recovery.” He also claimed that he witnessed the injured being rushed out of Jinnah hospital in a hurried manner.

Khanzada lambasted the Sindh chief minister for his alleged silence on the matter and questioned the whereabouts of the authorities responsible for providing justice. He added that the governor “may need to be summoned to intervene and ensure the safety and proper treatment of the victims.”

While describing the extent of Salam’s injuries, Khanzada stated that the victim’s ribs had been severely fractured due to the impact of the traffic accident. He criticised the “lack of timely and adequate medical care” at the Jinnah hospital, alleging that had the victims received proper treatment, the number of fatalities could have been lower.

He claimed that Salam has undergone surgery, but has been “left abandoned by everyone.” He demanded “immediate action” to provide the necessary care and support to the victims and their families in this time of crisis.
