The PPP has expressed its concerns over the lack of implementation of the written agreement in Punjab, stating that the party was being continuously overlooked by the provincial government, sources told Aaj News on Thursday.

The issue was raised during a meeting between delegations from both sides in Islamabad.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari led a delegation of PPP comprising Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar, and Raja Pervez Ashraf while the PML-N delegation was led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, and Ahsan Iqbal were part of the team.

They discussed the political situation in the country. The above-mentioned agreement is about the document signed by the two parties before the elections when the PML-N decided to form the government.

According to reports, it includes space for PPP in Punjab and legislation on the National Accountability Bureau. The Sindh-ruling party has long maintained that the anti-graft body should be closed.

Sources said that a coordination committee meeting between the PPP and PML-N would be held on Sunday at the Governor’s House in Lahore. The meeting is expected to resolve the “ongoing issues between the two parties.”

The federal government is also planning to introduce “some legislation” in the coming days, for which the National Assembly has been summoned on Monday. But the details of the proposed legislation have not been disclosed yet.

This high-level meeting between the top leadership of the coalition partners comes at a crucial time when the government is facing various political and economic challenges.
