Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of renowned Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has been granted permission to drop her father’s last name and legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie.

The 18-year-old, who was originally born as Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, filed the petition to drop the “Pitt” surname from her name on her 18th birthday in May. After a brief delay due to an incomplete background check, the court has now officially granted Shiloh’s request to legally change her name.

“Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check ahead of today’s hearing, so the hearing was rescheduled for August 19,” Shiloh’s lawyer, Peter Levine, told People magazine.

Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 60, share a total of six children, with Shiloh being the third-born. The former Hollywood power couple’s other children are Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15.

While Pitt was aware of his daughter’s decision to drop his last name, a source close to the “Wolfs” actor revealed that he is “upset” about the change.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” the source told People. “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them.”

This decision by Shiloh marks a significant personal milestone and underscores the growing trend among young adults to assert their independence and identity, even from their famous parents.
