Kolkata rape horror: Murdered doctor’s lawyer accuses Trinamool of planting goons in hospital attack
The lawyer representing the family of the murdered Kolkata trainee doctor has accused the ruling Trinamool Congress party of planting “goons” among the protesters, who then carried out the vandalism at the hospital.
The lawyer, Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, alleged that the Trinamool-backed goons intended to “scare and disperse the protesters” as well as “destroy evidence” in the case.
Bhattacharya also heavily criticized the initial Kolkata police investigation, stating that they had falsely claimed the victim died by suicide and tried to quickly cremate the body, which is crucial evidence.
The case has now been transferred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court due to perceived lapses in the police probe.

This comes even as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had earlier blamed opposition parties for the hospital attack, despite allegations that some of the arrested persons were Trinamool workers.
The brutal rape and murder of the young doctor has sparked massive outrage, with the CBI investigation seen as a step towards ensuring a fair and thorough probe.
