NDMA warns major cities against urban flooding in next 24 hours

Issues instructions to all relevant departments to take necessary precautions

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned major cities and urban centres against ubran flooding from August 18 to 19 when heavy downpours are expected.

The low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar from August 18 and 19 might face urban flooding due to heavy torrential rains, said a press release.

“The public is advised to stay informed by keeping track of weather updates and alerts,” the NDMA said and advised residents of above mentioned areas to remain vigilant and follow guidance from local authorities.

The NDMA has issued instructions to all relevant departments to take necessary precautions to mitigate the possible effects of flooding and extreme weather.
