Marwat mends fences with Khan after three months
PTI lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat has said that he has mended fences with party chairman Imran Khan after three months.
“Today, I met with the PTI chairman after three months. We resolved some grievances together,” Marwat told reporters outside the Adiala Jail where Khan is incarcerated.
Marwat was removed from the party’s core and political committees in May following his statements about Saudi Arabia and the party leadership. The former judge had lashed out at senior party figures for what he called depriving him of the coveted position of the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
He had alleged that Senate opposition leader Shibli Faraz was the one to inform Khan about the Saudi ambassador raising reservations regarding Marwat’s nomination.
In the past, the PTI MNA had accused both the US and Saudi Arabia of conspiring to topple the PTI government. But the party had publicly distanced itself from his remarks.
Earlier, Marawat said that he wanted to meet the former prime minister to resolve differences and end grievances. He was of the view that it would pave the way for betterment in the party.
Marwat told reporters that Khan hugged him when he went to shake hands with him. In social media posts, the PTI leader said that he would attend court hearings after the former premier asked him to not miss them.
“I told the party leader that I would accept any responsibility assigned to me and that the results would be for the leader to interpret. Following the founder’s guidance, all disagreements have been settled, and I have offered apologies,” he said and affirmed that all matters have been resolved based on the assurance given to him.
“I had said earlier that only the PTI chairman has the authority to expel me from the party,” Marwat said and added that he had asked Khan to consult PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur if there were any grievances from his side.
He expressed satisfaction with the meeting, claiming to have received a clear message that party divisions would be avoided.
Marwat, known for his outspoken demeanour, stated that Barrister Gohar has assured him that there would be no party conflicts moving forward.

Marwat announced that he has been assigned the responsibility for the upcoming rally on August 22. He stated that he would independently handle all planning related to protests and demonstrations, and if anything occurred like May 9, he would take full responsibility without consulting Khan.
Looking ahead, he announced that the party would first focus on Lahore. He acknowledged concerns regarding his travel to London but reiterated that he would not entertain negative comments about party colleagues like Shibli Faraz and Umar Ayub.
The PTI MNA emphasised that the party would conduct peaceful protests and rally the people to generate momentum in what he described as a “stifling environment, adding that students, lawyers, farmers, and others would be included in the demonstrations.”
