A spell of light and heavy rainfall has been ongoing intermittently throughout the night in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore, resulting in waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Authorities have been put on alert to take precautionary measures.

In Karachi, the intermittent light and heavy rainfall has occurred in various areas such as M.A. Jinnah Road, Gulistan-e-Johar, Old City Area, Nazimabad, New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Landhi and Korangi, making the weather pleasant.

Islamabad and its surrounding areas have also experienced intermittent heavy rainfall, which has led to a decrease in the intensity of the heat and improved the weather. The relevant authorities have been put on alert to take precautionary measures.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), there is a possibility of more rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, and in some areas, there may even be heavy downpours.

Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding in various districts of Punjab, including Lahore. An urban flooding alert has been issued, while intermittent rains continue across Balochistan, including Quetta.

In the Indus River, the Guddu Barrage is experiencing medium-level flooding, while the Sukkur Barrage is experiencing low-level flooding. People in the riverine areas are attempting to relocate with their livestock to drier locations.

The rising water levels in the Indus River have created a flood situation. The Guddu Barrage is currently experiencing medium-level flooding, and the Sukkur Barrage is experiencing low-level flooding. The inflow at Guddu Barrage is recorded at 422,038 cusecs, with an outflow of 401,243 cusecs. At the Sukkur Barrage, the inflow is 355,630 cusecs, and the outflow is 315,830 cusecs.

The situation at the Kotri Barrage is normal. Thousands of acres of riverine land have been submerged due to the rapid flow of water and large waves in the Indus River. People are busy using boats to relocate themselves and their livestock to drier land.

The fishermen who were engaged in fishing in the Indus River have also moved their boats to the shore. However, the Irrigation Department has declared the current situation to be out of danger.
