The Indus River has reached a medium flood level at the Guddu Barrage in Sindh province due to heavy monsoon rainfall upstream, officials reported on Thursday.

According to the Sindh Irrigation Department, the Indus River is currently flowing with an inflow of 349,911 cusecs and an outflow of 336,538 cusecs at the Guddu Barrage.

“The Indus River has been in medium flood at Guddu Barrage,” irrigation department officials confirmed.

Over the past 24 hours, the river’s water level has surged by 37,000 cusecs at the barrage. As a precautionary measure, the off-taking B.S. Feeder canal has been closed due to the flooding situation.

Authorities have predicted a further rise in the Indus River’s water level over the next 48 hours as the impact of the upstream rainfall continues.
