DPM Dar denies reports that Sindh governor will be changed soon
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has refuted reports that the Sindh governor would be changed in the coming days. MQM-P’s Kamran Tessori currently holds the position.
Reports related to the replacement of the Sindh governor are “false” and “baseless”, he said in a statement.
Earlier, reports claimed that a final decision had been made to change the Sindh governor and a new governor from the PML-N would be appointed in the coming days.
PML-N leader Bashir Memon’s name was being considered for the position after the N-league and the PPP reached an agreement on the matter.
It merits here to mention that Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah had also hinted at a change in the Sindh governor in the recent past, stating that if PML-N does not appoint the governor then PPP would provide the name.
Tessori was sworn in as the 34th governor of Sindh on October 10, 2022. His appointment had also “surprised” the MQM-P Rabita Committee as his name was not among the three names suggested by the party for the coveted slot.
The MQM-P had nominated Nasreen Jalil, Waseem Akhtar, and Aamir Chishti.
