Several areas of Karachi received torrential rains on Wednesady after a day of cloudy skies.

Heavy rain lashed Landhi, Korangi, Delhi Colony, and North Karachi. Light rain was reported in Shah Faisal, Malir, and Quaidabad.

A strong monsoon weather system from the Arabian Sea is scudding over the Sindh horizons, which is likely to produce more rains until Wednesday morning in different districts of the province.

Besides Karachi Division, other districts such as Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Thatta, Jamshoro, and Sujawal are expected to see dust-thunderstorm-rain with a few moderate and heavy falls on Wednesday.

Similarly, the thunder-rainy weather may also grip Dadu, Kambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Naushero Feroze, and Shaheed Benazirabad districts on July 31.

Temperatures in Karachi are expected to range between 33 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius with a higher humidity to 85% in the next 24 hours.

Heavy monsoon rains have caused significant damage to roads and other infrastructure in parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces in Pakistan. The flood waters have swept away key roads, disrupting connectivity.

In AJK, a landslide has damaged the Muzaffarabad-Kohala road, which connects Pakistan with AJK. Additionally, a bridge in the Mahandri area of Mansehra district has been washed away by the floodwaters, stranding thousands of people in the popular tourist destination of Naran-Kaghan.

The monsoon rains have also caused damage to the Quetta-Harnai Road in Balochistan province, bringing life in the area to a standstill.

In response to the situation, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has directed the relevant authorities, including the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Highways Authority (NHA), to utilize all available resources to restore the key roads and rescue the stranded tourists in the affected areas.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, to take all necessary measures in response to the ongoing monsoon rains affecting various parts of the country.

During a telephonic conversation, the Prime Minister instructed the NDMA chairman to assess the loss of life and property caused by the rains. He also directed the NDMA to strengthen coordination with the Provincial Disaster Management Departments, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Management Authority, and the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority.
