Former information minister Fawad Chaudhry has alleged that proscribed organisations like the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and the Baloch Liberation Army were involved in running an organised social media campaign against the army chief and the armed forces.

In an interview with News Insight with Amir Zia, Fawad claimed that such organisations have used former prime minister Imran Khan’s images to create divisive propaganda, aiming to turn the people of Pakistan against the army.

He stressed the need for ending such a campaign. Fawad was of the view that tensions that arose between the PTI and the military were being exploited by such groups.

The former information minister added that Pakistani politics could not move forward without Khan as the people were with him.

While speaking about the aftermath of the reconciliation talks, Fawad Khan’s politics faced no danger and there should be no perception of a “deal”. He said that if there was a deal, “Khan will become Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.”
