Information Minister Tarar criticises ‘contradictory statements’ by KP CM
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has criticised the statements made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur as being “full of contradictions.”
“The KP CM makes different claims at different public gatherings and fora,” he said at a press conference in Islamabad on Friday. He was flanked by States and Frontier Regions Minister Amir Muqam.
Tarar’s statement came after Gandapur addressed the Bannu Peace Committee earlier in the day. The KP chief minister reiterated that the provincial government would allow military operations in the province.
In an interview with News Insight with Amir Zia, the information minister said on Thursday that there was no confusion on the counterterrorism campaign, Azm-i-Istehkam.
At the press talk, Tarar also extended an invitation to Jamaat-e-Islami for negotiations. “The government is open to sitting down and talking with the JI.”
The religiouspolitical party has announced sit-ins at three different locations in the federal capital after its workers were arrested by the government. They were protesting against overbilling and power generation agreements.
Muqam clarified that there was no ongoing operation in the country and the security forces were ensuring the maintenance of peace.
He expressed surprise at the CM’s comments, stating that the security forces were conducting operations against terrorists and those making claims about dollars should also provide clarification. Muqam alleged that attempts have been made to take credit for the decisions made by the Apex Committee.
