The government of Punjab has approved the implementation of Lahore’s first-ever tram service with the service’s route also being revealed.

This new project aims to enhance the city’s urban aesthetics and provide residents with a convenient and efficient way to navigate the bustling city center.

The 11-kilometer tram route will connect key locations in Lahore, including Liberty, Main Market, Mini Market, and Hali Road, with stops spaced approximately 1 to 1.5 kilometers apart.

The modern tram design is expected to be influenced by successful systems in Finland and China, offering a comfortable and stylish riding experience.

According to Lahore Development Authority, the tram service is not just about functionality but also about enhancing the visual appeal of the city. Plans are underway to transform the renowned MM Alam Road, incorporating remodeling and beautification efforts.

Uniform roads and tuff tiles will create a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing streetscape.

The project’s scope extends beyond the tram route, as it also includes construction, renovation, and rehabilitation plans for Gulberg and its adjoining areas. This comprehensive approach ensures that the tram service integrates seamlessly into Lahore’s existing infrastructure.
