The federal government announced on Friday that its negotiations with the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) had been successful in ending the Faizabad sit-in, which had blocked the road connecting the twin cities.

The federal government has affirmed that it would continue its support for Palestinians in the face of Israel’s onslaught, Rana Sanaullah, adviser to the PM on political affairs said at a press conference in Islamabad.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and TLP leaders were sitting next to him at the press conference.

The religiopolitical party marched from Liaquat Bagh to Faizabad on July 13 against Israeli aggression in Palestine. The protest later turned into a sit-in at the interchange.

The TLP party is known for its staunch position on blasphemy laws. In the past, the TLP has organised protest sit-ins at the Faizabad Interchange. The large crowds of protesters in this area significantly disrupt traffic flow, forcing drivers to take longer, alternative routes between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Saad Rizvi-led party had demanded the government announce an official boycott of Israeli products, aid to Palestinians, and officially declare Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “terrorist”.

The protest had blocked the key route between Islamabad and Rawalpindi for the last six days.

At the presser, Sanaullah commended the “TLP passion” for showing solidarity with the Palestinians.

While giving details of the agreed-upon points between the government and TLP, Sanaullah said: “The TLP will support the government in its efforts for Palestinian people and more consignments of humanitarian aid will be dispatched for the Palestinians.”

He added the government condemned the unabated Israeli atrocities against Palestinians. “Israel has come out as a terrorist country and Benjamin Netanyahu has committed war crimes. Pakistan will use every possible means to help Palestinians and condemn Israel as a terrorist country.”

The government would do all it can for Palestine and would ask the TLP to help with this as well, he said and added that all companies associated with Israel would be boycotted and a committee has been set up in this regard.

The premier’s adviser called upon the world community and the entire Muslim Ummah to hold Israeli PM Netanyahu accountable and bring him to justice.

Sanaullah said that it has also been agreed that the government would provide medical assistance to the Palestinians and if possible would send its medical and paramedical staff to treat them.

It has also been agreed to bring the injured Palestinians to Pakistan if the Palestinian authority makes any such arrangements for their treatment.

“Our schools and hospitals are open for providing education and medical facilities to the innocent Palestinians,” Sanaullah said and added that the government has also agreed with TLP to accelerate efforts for the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
