Karachi authorities seal off procession routes, issue traffic plan for Muharram 8, 9, 10

In preparation for the central Muharram processions on the 8, 9, and 10 Muharram, the authorities in Karachi have sealed off the routes of the processions by placing containers along the roads.

According to the reports, the areas around the route of the 8 Muharram procession have been sealed, with containers placed on M.A. Jinnah Road, and various locations in the Saddar area to block the roads.

Additionally, the Orange Line and Green Line bus services will remain suspended from Monday until the 10 of Muharram.

The traffic police have also announced a comprehensive traffic plan to manage the flow of vehicles and pedestrians during the Muharram processions. The plan includes the closure of key roads and the deployment of security personnel to ensure the safety of the participants and the general public.

Due to the processions, the M.A. Jinnah Road will be closed from Gizri to Tower.

According to the statement issued by DIG Traffic spokesperson, the M.A. Jinnah Road from Gizri to Tower will remain closed on the 8, 9, and 10 of Muharram al-Haram for security reasons. Additionally, only the procession will be allowed to move on the New M.A. Jinnah Road and Preedy Street, and no other vehicles will be permitted.

The central procession will start from Nishtar Park and conclude at the Hussainia Iraniana Imambargah after passing through its traditional routes.

Individuals would not be allowed to park vehicles on the procession route, and only the vehicles with a sticker on the windscreen indicating their participation in the procession will be allowed to enter.

The vehicles with the procession sticker will be allowed to enter through the Shahrahe Quaideen Society traffic signal.

Regarding the alternative routes, the traffic police have announced that the people coming from Nazimabad can go towards Garden through the Lasbela Chowk and Nishtar Road to reach their destination.

People coming from Liaquatabad can go to Lasbela Chowk through Teen Hatti and then take a left turn towards Central Jail (Marton Road).

People going from Hassan Square to PP Chowrangi can take Kashmir Road, pass through Society Light Signal (Shahrah-e-Quaideen), and then go to Nishtar Road (Lasbela Chowk) through the Jail Flyover at Teen Hatti.

From Shahrah-e-Faisal, people can move towards Shahrah-e-Quaideen (Noorani Kabab) for Numaish and turn right towards Society Light Signal onto Kashmir Road and proceed towards their destination.

People going from the Central Jail Gate (Jamshed Road) towards Gowmundur and MA Jinnah Road can go from Gowmundur to Bahadar Yar Jung Road, Soldier Bazaar, and then towards their desired destination.

The destination from Garden Zoo towards MA Jinnah Road can go from Anklesaria to the right towards Gul Plaza, and then turn left towards the Coast Guard and Holy Family Hospital to reach their desired destination.

All heavy/commercial traffic going from the Super Highway towards MA Jinnah Road will be diverted to turn towards Lyari No. 10 and Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2 via Habib Bank Flyover and Sher Shah, up to Mauripur. This route will also be used for the return journey.

All heavy or commercial traffic going towards the city from the National Highway will be allowed to take the route via Shahrah-e-Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Lyari No. 10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2, Habib Bank Flyover, and Sher Shah up to Mauripur. This same route will be used for the return journey.

No small or large traffic will be allowed to proceed beyond Gurumandir Chowk on the procession route. All such traffic will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jung Road and Soldier Bazaar.

The vehicles from Nazimabad can take the route through Lasbela, Albela signal, Garden Jamaat Khana, Soldier Bazar, and then reach the Society Light Signal.

Liaquatabad can be reached through Teen Hatti, Jehangir Road, and then through Gurumandir, reaching Chowrangi and people from Gulistan-e-Johar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal can reach the exhibition by going through University Road, Old Sabzi Mandi, and then Kashmir Road to the Light Signal.

All the vehicles that are part of the procession to distribute Sabeel, Niyaz, or Tabarruk will have their entry point only at the Tower, at the location of the Memon Masjid.
