Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, arrived in Karachi on Thursday to conduct Ashara Mubaraka Muharram sermons.

He was received at the airport’s old terminal by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and senior members of the Bohra community.

According to a press release, Saifuddin would deliver a series of sermons in Karachi over nine days, starting from July 8 at Taheri Masjid in Saddar.

The sermons would be live-telecast to over 21 centres in Karachi and the neighbouring city of Hyderabad.

Following an invitation from the government and the local Bohra community, Saifuddin has chosen Karachi to host the “Ashara Mubaraka” congregations this year.

AsharaMubaraka is a 10-day period in Muharram dedicated to remembering Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), his grandson Imam Husain, and his family and companions.

Over 80,000 Dawoodi Bohras from Pakistan and around the world are expected to attend the events.
