Former Pakistani prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan defended his controversial tweets regarding the Hamood-ur-Rehman Commission. This law has been challenged.

In response to a question by the FIA about a controversial tweet from his official Twitter account, made after the hearing of the Al-Qadir Trust case at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan said that he owns the tweet.

He stated that he could not post a video while in jail and that he had not seen the video referenced in the tweet. Therefore, he declined to comment further on the matter, Business Recorder reported.

“The same is being repeated in the country, today,” he said.

An FIA team interrogated Khan in Adiala jail on Friday.

According to Imran Khan, the Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report had two main objectives. One of these objectives was to prevent the repetition of the mistakes that led to the 1971 war and the creation of Bangladesh.

Khan stated that the commission held former President Yahya Khan responsible for actions taken to extend his own rule, which contributed to the catastrophic events.

Khan acknowledged that in the past, he had compared Nawaz Sharif to Mujibur Rahman when referring to the Hamoodur Rahman Commission report.

However, he explained that he had not read the report at that time. Khan stated that he has now read the report while in jail.

He praised the members of the PTI’s social media team, calling them “heroes”. He stated that he would only answer questions from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team regarding the controversial tweet in the presence of his legal team.

PTI founder said the FIA would first have to apologize to him for the false “cipher case” they had filed against him.

“I have been kept in a death cell. I have no facility except an exercise machine,” he said when asked about facilities provided to Khan in jail, adding that room air coolers are available in all cells in the jail.

He claimed that President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were given ‘luxury suites’ during their imprisonment and they were provided food from outside the jail, while prisoners were preparing his meals.

During the hearing of the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) scam case, commonly known as the Al-Qadir Trust case, Imran Khan’s lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar objected to the appointment of a new Accountability Court judge, Muhammad Ali Warraich. The court heard arguments from both the defense and the NAB prosecutor and reserved its judgment on the objection until June 11.
