Body of boy missing on Margalla Hills recovered after hours-long operation
The body of 15-year-old Muhammad Taha, who had been missing from Margalla Trail 5 in the federal capital, has been recovered. The body was handed over to the police for post-mortem.
Rescue teams retrieved the body after a 14-hour operation, bringing it down in a bag. It took several hours to reach the starting point of Trail 5. Rescue officials confirmed that the body was brought to the location where Taha’s family was present.
The body, recovered from a ravine in the Margalla Hills in Islamabad, was identified as that of Muhammad Taha, who had been missing from Trail 5. The boy’s parents had reported his disappearance to the police.
The parents stated that Taha, a student, had gone hiking on Trail 5 with his friends but had mysteriously disappeared.
Sources revealed that Taha had gone on Trail 5 with his friends but had gotten separated from them. Taha’s friends had called home to inquire if he had returned.
According to Islamabad Police, a report regarding Taha’s disappearance in the Secretariat Police Station area was received, prompting an investigation.
Police initially registered a case of alleged abduction and initiated a search operation in the surrounding areas. A response team, Margalla patrol, and drone cameras were also deployed.
Later, the body was found by the staff of the Department of Forest and Environment, who handed it over to the police.
Police sources revealed that the body was recovered from a deep ravine.
Police had expressed concerns that the clothing and physique of the body matched the missing boy. Subsequently, the police summoned Taha’s mother and other family members for identification. The parents confirmed the identity of the body.
The body was then brought down. Police stated that the body will be shifted to PIMS Hospital for a post-mortem.
