Karachi administration to make domicile issuance system online
Efforts were under way to make the domicile issuance system online throughout Karachi, city Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has said.
“The Karachi administration is simplifying the process of issuing domicile certificates for citizens,” he said after the inauguration of a Digital Domicile Desk at the office of the deputy commissioner in Korangi.
He sought feedback from applicants present on the current domicile issuance facilities.
Naqvi emphasised eliminating delays in obtaining domicile documents, stating that the administration was working to implement a digital, online domicile issuance system across all districts of Karachi, replacing the traditional paper-based process.
According to the commissioner, a new, streamlined procedure has been adopted, where applicant information and documents were scanned and permanently saved, and the issued domicile includes a QR code for easy verification.
Naqvi chaired a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to review efforts to enhance civic amenities, remove encroachments, improve cleanliness, and enforce government regulations in the district. Other officials, including the additional deputy commissioner and assistant commissioners, were also present.
