A large number of residential areas in Karachi remained without electricity on Thursday after heavy rain and thunderstorms wreaked havoc on Wednesday night.

The distribution system of power utility K-Electric has been severely impacted, with around 150 to 200 feeders currently shut down.

Several areas have been left without power after water entered the Power Distribution Transformers (PMTs) and underground cables.

In many localities, the situation remained dire, with multiple feeders tripping.

In the Baldia Town area, about 30 electricity tripped, while the DHA and Clifton areas also experienced power outages.

Other city areas which suffered power failures include Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where 36 feeders tripped, Korangi, with 18 feeders down, and Orangi, which saw 12 feeders go out.

Surjani Town also struggled with severe power outages, with 21 feeders tripping in the area.

Major city areas like North Karachi, Saddar, Old City Area, Shah Faisal Colony, and Liaquatabad are experiencing ongoing power cuts. Other affected areas include Gadap, North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Shadman, and Korangi.
