Pakistan Railways introduces ‘premier dinning’ on Tezgam Express
Pakistan Railways has launched the “premier” dining service on the Tezgam Express.
Pakistan Railways Chairman Syed Mazhar Ali Shah took to the social media platform, X, to announce the development.
“Pakistan Railways is dedicated to enhancing passenger experiences! We are proud to announce the premier dining service on the Tezgam Express, connecting Karachi to Rawalpindi. Your support fuels our commitment to excellence.”
The video clip was also posted, showcasing the services to be provided, with lavishing red chairs, a golden background, and a wooden exterior of the dining room.
Tezgam Express is the train service between Karachi and Rawalpindi in Pakistan. It is also the oldest and most popular train in Pakistan.
It travels a distance of 1,548 kilometres in approximately 25 hours and 30 minutes.
Tezgam offers different types of accommodations, including economy class, which costs Rs 3,350, economy berth, which costs Rs 3,450, AC business, which costs Rs 7,600, whereas AC standard retails for Rs 5,700, and AC sleeper, which costs Rs 10,000.

The new dining car can accommodate 35 passengers and will serve a diverse menu featuring over 40 food items, including soups, burgers, pizza, karahi, sandwiches, paratha rolls, French fries, and biryani, Associated Press of Pakistan reported while quoting the PR spokesperson.
This addition follows the introduction of a premium lounge dining car in the Bahauddin Zakaria Express, prompting further expansion.
