Elon Musk delays India visit

The visit was scheduled on April 21 and 22

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk’s two-day visit to India was postponed to announce plans for Tesla’s entry into the Indian market.

Musk was originally scheduled to visit India on April 21 and 22 and hold a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a tweet, Elon Musk explained that the delay was due to “very heavy Tesla obligations” that required his immediate attention.

However, he expressed his enthusiasm for visiting India later this year.

The decision comes as Musk is reportedly obligated to participate in a crucial conference call on April 23 to address inquiries about Tesla’s performance in the first quarter of the year.

During his visit, Musk was expected to disclose an investment of $2-3 billion for establishing a factory to manufacture entry-level cars, capitalizing on the Indian market’s long-awaited introduction to Tesla Inc.

The Indian government recently announced a policy that reduces high tariffs on imported vehicles in exchange for local investment.

Furthermore, Musk planned to unveil the introduction of Starlink, a satellite network offering high-speed internet connectivity.

He also intended to engage with Indian space tech startups, including Skyroot Aerospace, Dhruva Space, Piersight, and Digantara, during his stay in New Delhi.

The upcoming visit would have marked the third meeting between Musk and Prime Minister Modi.

They previously connected during Musk’s visit to a Tesla plant in 2015 and when PM Modi traveled to the United States in 2023.

In a recent interview, PM Modi described Musk as a supporter of India.
