Pakistan Railways unveils longest freight train in history

The train can carry over 3000 tonnes of goods

Pakistan Railways has launched the longest train in the transportation history of Pakistan to carry goods of over 3000 tonnes from Karachi.

This railway carriage consists of 50 bogies that extend to 2500 feet providing efficiency and effectiveness in transportation.

Pakistan Railways has marked this train as an innovation powered by the super powerful engine GEU40. It has attained a speed of 60 km/h and an average speed of 38 km/h.

The longest freight in Pakistan can cart more than 94 two-wheeler truckloads. This characteristic supports an effective transportation of goods by lessening the pressure on roads which is beneficial for the environment.

This new vehicle in transportation can ease the delivery of many goods in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s freight railcar needs a three-member group to operate it. Karachi was the starting point for this train bearing 3000 tonnes of goods on Thursday. It traveled from Pipri Yard in Karachi to Kotri, located at 127km on the mainline.

Pakistan Railways has responded with an extensive railcar to ease problems like freight traffic by the government’s axle load limitation regulations and rising demands of shippers in the port area to export goods.
