Maryam’s struggle paid off, says Tehmina Daultana
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Tehmina Daultana said on Monday that Maryam Nawaz had shown her glimpses of Kulsoom Nawaz in her first speech as chief minister.
Speaking to Shaukat Piracha in Rubaroo on Monday, Daultana said that she felt that Maryam would prove to be the ideal parliamentarian.
She also said that Maryam’s agenda for the province seemed to be reminiscent of what Nawaz Sharif had tried to do during his first stint as the province’s chief minister.
Daultana said that maryam had struggled when it was time to struggle and had stood by her party and country for her principles.
She also said that Maryam had chosen to return to Pakistan and face jail and it had helped her develop politically.
Regarding the absence of the oppostion from the session, Daultana said that Maryam had already said that she would be chief minister for the entire province not just her own party.
She also said that the concern that constituencies of opposition parties would not receive development were impractical. She said that it hardly happens that a road is only developed in the government’s own territory.
Daultana also said that Nawaz had chosen to act as a statesman out of love for his country even after being exiled from the country and had sent a messenger to Pervez Musharraf during hostilities with India.
She added that Nawaz Sharif loved the country and had even chose to leave his wife behind to face jail in the country.
However, she added that President Arif Alvi needs to display the same spirit and understand what the current situation demands.
