The PTI has demanded that a judicial commission should be formed to investigate former Rawalpindi commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta allegations of rigging in the general elections.

“The Pindi commissioner’s statement affirms our stance and not just us but everyone saw [rigging in elections]. The PTI officially demands that a judicial commission is formed on this and inquiry is conducted on this,” PTI leader Gohar Khan said at a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday.

Not just inquiry, he said and added that people involved in the process should be made part of it. Gohar added that the report should be submitted and shared with the people.

On Saturday, Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta surrendered to police after claiming that he made returning officers under him to change results for at least 13 MNA candidates.

But he did not substantiate his claims with any proof or information as to who was the beneficiary of such irregularities.

He also accused the Election Commission of Pakistan and Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa of involvement in the ‘rigging’ — a claim denied by the ECP and the CJP.

Gohar demanded that election results on the basis of Form 45 should immediately be declared.

At the start of the presser, Imran Khan’s lawyer stated that the party was given one seat in Balochistan whereas three were due; all 16 seats were due in Sindh, and 50 seats were due in Punjab.

Such results would declare the PTI’s majority, he said and added that the party has been demanding from the courts that returning officers should be from the judiciary.

‘PTI’s govt in Centre, provinces’

PTI’s candidate for the prime ministerial position Omar Ayub said that the last 10 to 12 months were difficult for the party. He claimed that the caretaker government exceeded its mandate by taking action against the party.

He “declared that hopefully the PTI would form the government in the Centre and provinces.”

After coming to power, Omar said that the party’s objective would be to take steps for the release of former prime minister Imran Khan, former first lady Bushra Bibi, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pervez Elahi, women supporters of PTI behind bars, senior leadership, and workers.

He claimed that the party candidates received as many as 30 million votes despite the party being stripped of its symbols and workers being arrested.

At the press conference, he accused the MQM-P of stealing the party’s seats in Karachi.

Omar added Form 47 on the basis of Form 45 should be notified and issued. It would help our candidates to get notified. “It is just hours long work,” he said and described rigging as “mother of all rigging”.

Omar added that Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa should not be part of the judicial bench as he has been named by the former Rawalpindi commissioner.

Gohar clarified that the PTI has not demanded the CJP’s resignation and inquiry against the alleged rigging should be conducted.
