Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Shanghai on Thursday for a two-day visit to attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference and formalise Pakistan’s participation in a new international artificial intelligence organisation, the Foreign Office said.

Dar will attend the opening ceremony of the World AI Conference on July 17 and sign an agreement establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation (WAICO) as a founding member on behalf of Pakistan, the foreign office spokesperson said.

Dar was welcomed upon arrival by Shanghai Deputy Mayor, Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires Ijaz Khan and Consul General Shahzad Ahmed Khan.

During his visit, Dar will also hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of various countries in Shanghai to discuss issues of mutual interest, the spokesperson said.
