Temporary relief for journalists after govt promises no action in SC

Case adjourned by SC till the first week of March

The Supreme Court of Pakistan adjourned case against harassment of journalists by institutions after the government gave an assurance that no action would be taken in the meantime.

A three-member bench led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa took up the case on Tuesday for the second straight day. The bench included Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Musarrat Hilali as well.

Representatives of the Journalists Association of the Supreme Court appeared in court while Attorney General Mansoor Awan appeared on behalf of the government.

The bench adjourned the case till the first week of March after Awan assured the bench that no action would be taken against the journalists in the meantime.

The case had come to the SC after dozens of journalists received notices from the Federal Investigation Agency for remarks against the judiciary.
