Saveera Parkash wants her naysayers to stop swearing
Dr Saveera Parkash gives credit to her followers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Buner for supporting her on social media as she is the first Hindu woman contesting for a general seat in Pakistan from the conservative Buner region. She believes that it is a collective effort to promote the country’s soft image. But the lady doctor fears that bad comments from some can ruin that.
“Alhamdulillah, you guys are very supportive and give love to the photos and videos I post on Facebook which I never imagined. There are some offensive comments as well where very wrong things have been said. In some comments, swear words are clearly written,” she said in a video statement on X which was shared by a user named Sohail Noor Khan.
More than 40,000 people have viewed the four-minute video uploaded on Wednesday. Shahbuddin of Aaj News translated the statement from Pashto.
Since PPP’s announcement of fielding Parkash for general elections from Buner, the Hindu lady doctor has received massive support from her town and around the country. If all goes well, she will become one of the youngest Parliamentarians at 25.
Dr Saveera Parkash, who is now known as the “daughter of Buner” shares her campaign pictures and videos on Facebook and X.
Buner, located 156.7km from Peshawar, borders Afghanistan and is one of the most conservative regions of the country. But Hindus and Sikh minorities have also been living in the district before the partition.
In her short video, Saveera reminded her naysayers that she is also a “Pakhtuna” despite being a Non-Muslim. She urged the people to respect women, saying that her supporters have worked hard.
“Credit goes to each of those brothers and sisters who shared my posts, liked them and made comments on them to promote me,” the doctor said and added that everyone has to work together to present the soft image of not just Pakistan but KP, Buner, and Pakthun nation to the world.
“Your one comment can spoil that image,” she warned.
Parkash, who entered politics because of her father, went on to add that people around the world “focus on” comments, lamenting that there would be no response to vulgarity.

She urged social media users to avoid abusive comments. “I ignore such comments as I have much support. But the whole world sees it and they can spoil our effort.”
On the other hand, Saveera clarified that she was not against any political party and working to end issues.
Saveera, who comes from a middle-class family, says she is aware of the issues faced by the low segment of society. “There are many issues that people cannot talk about. Even women here have many problems which they cannot tell their men. I have come out to resolve these problems.”
